Spoken Word

SPOKEN WORD STAGE AT FREE FORM FESTIVAL 2011

Spoken Word is about the author and the text. Spoken Word is about the direct confrontation between the artist and the audience. Spoken word is about poetry. In Poland Spoken Word made its first appearance on Poetry Slams – a mix of poetry and performance, an open competition during which the audience chooses the best poet/performer of the night. Spoken Word is a western phenomenon which came to refresh the literature scene and to make our poetry nights more vibrant. This year FreeFormFestival has decided to follow in the footsteps of all big festivals from the UK or USA and to organize the first Spoken Word stage at a music festival in Poland !

During the festival on the Spoken Word stage you will be able to see: Harry Baker, Deborah Stevenson, Kamila Janiak, Mateusz Andała, Weronika Lewandowska, Grzegorz Bruszewski and Roman Boryczko

Spoken Word Stage Line-up:

Harry Baker / UK
Harry Baker at the age of 19 was announced the European slam master. He recites poems and  tells stories about how he won the Haiku death matches in US and performed at the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh  and other European festivals such as Latitude or Bestival.  Now he is coming to FreeformFestival – you can’t miss it!

Deborah Stevenson / UK

Deborah has performed at many stages around the world but most of her time spends at Nottingham University where she gives lectures about poetry and writes poems that have been published even by Louis Vuitton. Now she is starting her research about spoken word poetry.
